One hundred years ago, in a village outside Mexico City, the people of Anenecuilco enlist a reluctant young horseman to help them reclaim their stolen ancestral lands. Battered by the conflicting passions of his courageous wife Josefa, his hotheaded brother Eufemio and a succession of corrupt Presidents, the horseman must ultimately relinquish his love of peace to fight-and sacrifice- for justice and a better world.
